Welcome
to the South Wales
Section of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club
The
VMCC South Wales Section primarily caters for all motorcycles and
three-wheelers with a minimum
age of 25 years, regardless of make or country of
origin. Depending on the event, anyone riding a more modern machine is
also very welcome. This is obvious if you look at the sample
and
variety of bikes owned by our members on the our bikes page.
The section is
one of 85 sections within the VMCC and was initially formed in April
1961 in the car park of the Andoversford Hotel by three members who
needed to be a section in order to receive the Team Award that they had
just won in the Cotswolds Road Trial.
There was an instant election
amongst the three, of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer - and the
trophy was duly handed over.
A more democratic election took place at
the next official meeting.
The
section meets on the dates listed on the calendar page in the
Lounge. The dates are usually fortnightly on a Monday and the meetings
are held in the Llanharry Workingmens Club,
Elm Road, Llanharry, CF72 9HR at 7.30pm. If you're not a VMCC
member but have an interest in motorcycles, then you are most welcome
to come along and meet us. Our meeting attendances usually average
around 30 - depending on the weather, bank holidays or if the meeting
is an AGM.
We
are pleased to say that from June 1993 we have been twinned with the
CMB (Classic Motorcycles Belgium) and their website can be found by
clicking their badge that is found above right. The twinning
certificate can be seen here.
We have made many good friends over the years and members from each
club attend the others events.
Do
feel free to 'wander'
around the premises and see what the section is all about.
Personally,
I
always visit the Bar first (don't
you?) to see if there are any
'bargains' to be
had in the sales and wants. Whilst in Spares
and Services you will
find contact
information pertaining to suppliers for motorcycle
items. Additionally,
here you will also
find a number of General motorcycling web links
that might be of interest.
The lounge
is the place to
go for a quiet read of any reports
on runs and meetings etc. Alternatively you can check on the calendar
for Section
runs, meetings and other events.
The
Library
is
open to all VMCC members and Section members
alike. Here you
will find Technical information,
or
read some of the Features
articles and even catch up on
some past happenings in the Archive.
In
the
Office you will find all the 'Fuddy
Duddies'
who run the Section along with any announcements that the
Chairman or Secretary
need to make, plus information on
the VMCC,
our National Club. There are also links to those other VMCC sections
that have websites.
I
do hope you will find something of
interest and/or amusement on the site, with feedback and
'constructive' comment always welcome. Please
direct correspondence to the relevant person on the Office page.
